My 5 cents

How it works

The search for stations and the launching of Dr.Web for Windows scanners on target hosts is performed remotely using Dr.Web CureNet! Master. The Master is a Windows application that can be installed on any computer running Windows 2000/XP Professional/2003/2008/Vista/Windows 7. Dr.Web CureNet! Master can be launched from any removable data storage device including a USB flash drive.

A connection to a host is established using the rights of a current user or a list of passwords for the stations in the network.

Master scans the network for connected hosts before the anti-virus software is distributed between workstations.

Scanning can be performed on all available hosts or on selected workstations and servers. Hosts are selected by IP address or IP address range, by mask or by NetBIOS name.

When the scanning is completed, all available hosts will be displayed in the Master’s window.

Scanning features

Two types of scanning – Express and Full – allow you to choose the desired scanning depth. In most cases the default settings are the best choice.

An individual scanning configuration can be used to customize the responses of the scanner software to different events. See the “Features” page for more information.

You can also choose to disable the scanning of archives and e-mail files to speed up the scanning process.

Suspicious objects are moved to the quarantine located on the computer that runs Dr.Web CureNet! Master.

Once scanning is launched, progress can be viewed in real time in the statistics tab of Dr.Web CureNet! Master.

Once scanning and curing is completed, a report provides information about the actions performed by Dr.Web CureNet! on the target machines. It contains the names and IP addresses of scanned hosts as well as the scanning completion status.
